    Week 1 & 2

2 weeks into this challenge an already I forget to complete part of it. As in the post to the blog part of it. Both weeks 1 and 2 I have made sure to post to Instagram and both weeks I forget to post to the Blog. What can I say Life happens, better late than never, here are my week 1 and Week 2 Photographs for my challenge What can I say about week 1. Well if you’ve read the Instagram caption you know week 1 was hard for me. I take selfies but I rarely post them. Why? A. I don’t think the world needs to see my…

    2020 Day 1

At the minute So I have been thinking a lot about a lot lately. Which is pretty normal for me. I overthink. I love taking photographs, I love learning about photography and photographers, I love art and artists and I am learning to love editing my photographs.  For a while now my blog has just existed as a place to post my photos that is easier to see than instagram. Somewhere I can post more pictures, bigger pictures but not necessarily better pictures.  Some of the photos I love the most are quick snaps I’ve taken with my phone. And some I’ve spent hours with fussing over a branch or…

    The Begonia House

Sometimes life throws everything at you all at once and with only two hands most of it’s hitting you in the face. Thats what my last week has felt like. Smack after smack after smack in the face. I have felt stressed and overwhelmed with the amount of stuff sitting in my brain space. All I needed as some time to myself and to do something I love. Enter the Begonia House in Machattie Park Bathurst. I love it. Every year from about February to April extending a bit into May usually. The Begonia House is open. A house full of flowers waiting for me to look at, enjoy, photograph…

This post is about Lily. My cat. I found Lily when I was 18. My cat before Lily, Midas had died really suddenly about 5 or 6 months before and it really shook me up. I was so upset over her death I didn’t want to be near other animals basically at all and even our other cat her Mum Rockey and our dog Jilly made me sad to be around. Cut to my little brother who over his life time has had a multitude of different pets including mice, rats lizards, fish, crabs and birds, wanting to go to the pet store and get a new bird with his…

    Happy Easter

It’s been months actual months since i’ve even thought about writing. Somehow this blog which is so important to me always gets pushed to the bottom of my to do list and the only person who suffers for it is me. I have been working on my photography. I have a stack of photos to edit and a stack that I have edited. But then it comes to writing and I get shy. I worry about what to write and whether anyone actually reads my blog and if they do what do they think and I put it off for another day and another until it’s been months. So I…

    Hello 2019

Hello 2019, Its nice to meet you. My name is Emily and I have a bad habit (I have several actually but I’m only talking about one) My bad habit is New Years Resolutions. You see when your sister 2018 rolled around I gave her the same spiel i’ve been giving your siblings since I was old enough to understand what a resolution is. I sweet talked her. I am ashamed to say I flattered her and honesty here I outright lied to her. I made her promises I couldn’t keep and by the time easter rolled around we were not talking to each other. My resolutions were hard. I…

    The Egyptian Exhibit

I love History. If the title of the blog hadn’t clued you into that fact then I wasn’t being as obvious as I thought I was.  All through school my favourite subject was always history and except for a brief flirtation with the idea of becoming a fashion designer, it didn’t happen because I can only sew in a straight line. I always wanted to study history and become a historian. My love of books and reading about history eventually led me to my actual profession which I love as a Librarian. And yes the line from The Mummy is my absolute favourite. Evelyn ” Look, I … I may…

    New Beginnings

Welcome to ‘What Falls My Way’. ‘What Falls My Way’ is a quote from Marcus Aurelius’ Meditations, its one of my favourite quotes of all time. “Love only what falls your way and is fated for you. What could suit you more than that?” It helps me to remember to look around and live life to the fullest now, not later, not when I have more money or a different job. Love your life now not tomorrow. So thats what my blog is what i’m loving now, what is happening around me even what i’m remembering that is making me happy. I hope it does that for you. X
